If you wish to be a creator, then you must first consume ravenously. But do not consume too much without creating. If you do not, then you will build the habit of consuming without creating, and you will become passive.
If you wish to finish things, then you must first play constantly with your tools and ideas. But do not play too much without finishing anything. If you do not, you will grow accustomed to the fun of playing around without finishing anything, and you will remain an amateur.
If you wish to share your work with others, then you must first finish more things than you share. But do not finish too many things without sharing them with others. If you do not, you will not learn to receive and integrate others’ feedback, and your work will become solipsistic.
So if you wish to become great you must consume ravenously, play constantly, finish things regularly, and share them with others. And you should also spend time thinking about creating, but much less than the time you spend creating. Certainly not much more than this.
